CALI

On the night of this Thursday, December 29, a fatal accident ended the lives of two women in the city of Cali, this, after a bus from the Massive Integrated of the West ran over them in the vicinity of the exclusive lane of this service. The authorities went to the scene, however, the forceful blow caused the immediate death of the victims.

This fact was recorded exactly at Carrera 29 with diagonal 28C in the El Paraíso neighborhood, on the pedestrian crossing that is in the area. It is presumed that the women who were mobilizing on a motorcycle would have invaded the MIO lane and it failed to stop prior to the crash, leaving them lying on the road corridor.

It should be noted that the traffic light installed at this intersection is also used by cyclists or motorcycle drivers, who pass through the crosswalk, however, the drivers on the avenue do not respect the stop and end up being reckless.

The crude images reflect the two bodies lying on the ground and different people observing the scene. The people were aboard a motorcycle, however, it is not clear if they were coming from the Massive Integrated West lane or, failing that, they were crossing the pedestrian zebra, so it is presumed that the case would be a road recklessness , since according to the inhabitants of the area, it is recurrent to see this type of situation.

So far, there is no information on the identification of the victims, however, this figure adds to the high number of people who have lost their lives in traffic accidents this year in the capital of Valle del Cauca; According to the Ministry of Mobility, there are almost 300 citizens who have lost their lives in this type of event during 2022.

On the subject, Paola Rivas, a psychologist from the District Public Health Secretariat explained:

The fine, in case of being caught under the effect of intoxicating drinks, can amount to 27 million pesos, or failing that, you may lose your driver's license or be penalized with the immobilization of the vehicle.

“The idea is to raise awareness that one leaves the house with the hope of returning and does not know if he will return or not, due to the imprudence of one person or another. If people come to these important and pleasant events with family or friends and they are going to consume liquor, they are being told to please hand over the keys and respect traffic rules and signs," said Yurani Candamil, safety instructor. road of the Ministry of Mobility, about this campaign.
