Alberto Fernández will receive the New Year in Olivos and then will travel to Lula's inauguration
President Alberto Fernández will open a parenthesis in his agenda for this Saturday night to receive the New Year at Quinta de Olivos and, unlike previous years, he did not travel to the Chapadmalal residence nor will he take vacations, since the 1st January will travel to Brazil to participate in the inauguration of Luis Inácio "Lula" da Silva.
Sources from the presidency confirmed Fernández will leave for Brasilia early next Sunday. Although the possibility of him traveling to Brasilia on December 31 was discussed, a series of changes in the schedule of Lula's inauguration ceremony forced the president to change his departure date.
The Argentine head of state and his Brazilian counterpart have had a close relationship for years, so much so that at the end of October Fernández traveled to the neighboring country to celebrate with Lula the victory that the leader of the Workers' Party (PT) won in the ballotage before the current Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro.
Fernández will travel in the company of Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero and it is not ruled out that the first lady Fabiola Yáñez will also be part of the entourage.
Meanwhile, Alberto and Lula will meet again a few days later, since the Brazilian president plans to make his first official trip to Argentina on January 24 to participate in the summit of the Community of Latin American States and Caribbean (Celac).
"The president is not going to take vacations at this time, he has to be in the country," sources from the Government House commented and clarified that "the members of the Cabinet have the right to take vacations."

Finally, they affirmed that there is no special directive regarding the destinations allowed for vacations: "The members of the Cabinet are responsible. Each one knows what prudence they must have, what can be done and what not," they added.
