From the spray dress to the success of Kim Kardashian's brand, everything that happened in fashion in 2022

Fashion lovers have vibrated with the parade of the Coperni firm in which a dress was created with a "spray" on the body of the top Bella Hadid, also with that of Balenciaga on mud. The saddest moments came with the deaths of designers Manfred Thierry Mugler, Hanae Mori and Issey Miyake.

The year began with the death of the Frenchman Thierry Mugler, a designer who marked fashion with theatrical creations, robotic monkeys and risky dresses worn by stars such as Michael Jackson, Madonna and Lady Gaga.

The death of Japanese designer Hanae Mori, known as "Madame Butterfly" for her butterfly motifs, was also mourned. Her death came days after the death of designer Issey Miyake, also known internationally for his creations that combined Japanese tradition with avant-garde materials and cuts, was announced.

During Paris Fashion Week, there were exciting shows, such as the first of Victoria Beckham and the "performance" in the show of the Coperni firm in which a dress was created with a "spray" on the body of the model Bella Hadid, who was on her feet for all eight minutes.

Once dry, the garment was shaped: a sewing assistant lowered the straps and made a side slit in the skirt with scissors. Next, Hadid walked down the catwalk before the incredulous gaze of the attendees.

Last November, the Council of Fashion Designers of America held its annual awards ceremony in New York, known as the "Fashion Oscars," recognizing the work of Catherine Holstein who took home the American Womenswear Designer of the Year Award. The award for emerging American designer went to Elena Velez, the title of menswear designer went to Emily Adams Bode Aujla and Raúl López triumphed as accessories designer.

While Skims, the shapewear brand launched by Kim Kardashian, received the newly created Innovation Award, Lenny Kravitz was honored with the 2022 Fashion Icon.

At the 2022 Fashion Awards, held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, they recognized American Bella Hadid as Model of the Year and Italian designer Pierpaolo Piccioli.

The Spanish company Inditex has not received any award, but it has received applause from the fashion world for choosing the Russian model Irina Shayk as the face of Zara.

It has also been applauded by Kaia Gerber, one of the most sought-after models today and daughter of the famous model Cindy Crawford, to expand her collections.

The Italian Riccardo Tisci left Burberry after five years as creative director and the British Daniel Lee left his position as creative of Bottega Veneta and takes over the mythical English house recognized throughout the world for its trench coats. In 2022, fashion houses like Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Custo, Tommy Hilfiger or Karl Lagerfeld have presented their designs in fashion shows, but also in the virtual world, in the metaverse.
