Learn about the sectors in which women got more jobs than men, according to DANE
The labor market in Colombia during the penultimate month of 2022 had a particularly striking behavior for the statistics of the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane).
It is not about the gender that managed to be employed the most, but about the sectors in which this labor force demonstrated better results when it comes to finding a job, at the gates of the end of the year.
Although they did not manage to keep a greater number of vacancies than their male counterpart. Women in Colombia begin to shift the balance of the labor market in their favor.
During November the unemployment rate continued to decrease in the country, going from 9.7% in September to 9.5% by the end of November.

A phenomenon that adds, according to Piedad Urdinola, director of Dane, to a new reality in which the Employment rate for women improved in greater proportion than that of men.
They went from occupying 8.47 million jobs to 9.26 million; that is, 9.4% more than last year on the same date.
While they only happened to occupy 3.3% more. While it is true that they still have a workforce of 13.22 million workers, their numbers have not changed much in the last 12 months. Contrary to that of women, who are close to reaching 10 percentage points more.
Women find themselves commanding the stop in arts and entertainment
Currently, they are the ones who show their faces in two sectors that have been resuming their pre-pandemic numbers in recent months: art and entertainment.
This is how it became known, according to DANE figures. Cinema, acting, music, theater and dance are just some of the projects that today seem to prefer female talent, due to their versatility and ingenuity.
While men seem to command the stop in the manufacturing sector; that is, everything related to the manufacture of products, either manually or with the help of machinery.
What age range are the majority of people entering the workforce?
Law 1098 of 2006 establishes in its article number 35 that in Colombia a person can be hired from the age of 15.
This means that any person over the age of 15 can apply for and access a job vacancy. Something that DANE takes into consideration when collecting the information it uses in its surveys.
By November 2022, the last month for which said statistics are available, women between the ages of 25 and 54 were the ones who managed to get the greatest number of jobs: 631,000.
A trend that is repeated in the case of men, since the population between 25 and 54 years old managed to keep 782,000 vacancies.
