Mayor of SMP: "We have received a Municipal management with an approximate debt of 500 million soles"
This January 1, the mayors and governors begin their efforts at the national level, which is why they begin a new stage as municipal authorities. However, there are municipalities that have left things halfway and even with million-dollar debts.
This is the case of the district of San Martín de Porres, where the current burgomaster said that the commune that he will begin to direct, has a debt of more than 500 million soles, payments that have remained "in the air" to suppliers and especially municipal workers.
"When one assumes a function, he assumes with all those things that can be found in the district. We received a Municipal management with an approximate debt of 500 million soles (...) Collection deficit of approximately 16 million soles and 10 million debt only in 2022″, declared the mayor Sifuentes in Exitosa.
In addition, he stated that when he took the high public position of mayor of SMP, he realized that, so far, of a total of 800 workers who were hired under the CAS regime, more than 650 people have indefinite contracts.

“It is not a complaint, I have not assumed to complain. The district is a district with high security rates. I will articulate the Police, the Serenazgo and the neighbors. The mayor must be an articulator, have a constant dialogue with the PNP, ”he said.
At another point in the conversation, Sifuentes said that prior to taking office, he spoke with authorities that were part of the Government of the former President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, and that he currently has the will to talk with the new officials to promote initiatives in favor of citizens.
"We were doing some coordination with the Government that has already withdrawn and we are going to resume the talks to continue with our task and stop the crime rates," he said.
The provincial and district mayors, as well as the governors who were elected after the elections took place in October and December of this year, will assume functions as of January 1, 2023.
Peruvians elected some 13,032 authorities in 25 regional governments, 196 provincial municipalities and 1,694 district municipalities throughout the country, according to the Andina agency.
Lima is the region that chose the most authorities with 1,343; followed by Ancash, with 1,073 authorities; Cajamarca, with 841 authorities and Junín, with 829 authorities.
In Metropolitan Lima, the elected mayor is Rafael López Aliaga, from the Renovación Popular party, who narrowly defeated Daniel Urresti, from Podemos Peru.

In the constitutional province of Callao, the current burgomaster of Ventanilla, Pedro Spaddaro, of the political movement Contigo Callao, was elected mayor. The Regional Government will be led next year by Ciro Castillo de Más Callao.
The elected authorities will assume functions for the period 2023-2026, according to electoral law, without the possibility of being re-elected until the next elections in 2030.
