Driving Academy gave classes in a stolen car in Bucaramanga
The BUCARAMANGA METROPOLITAN POLICE recovered four high-end vehicles that had been stolen, in the middle of an operation. One of them was being used by a DRIVING school.
During a presentation by the police commander of the capital of Santander, General José James Roa, explained how a teaching company turned out to be deceived by criminals who had previously STOLEN a VEHICLE and then sold it to the DRIVING educational institution.
For the DRIVING school it was quite a surprise because after acquiring a VEHICLE and using it to teach DRIVING classes, they discovered that the car was stolen.
Similarly, the police commander added that "four high-end vehicles were recovered and precisely one of them had been acquired by a school in Bucaramanga."
Additionally, the general made a call to people who purchase vehicles through social networks, since scammers offer them at lower prices than commercial ones. "We invite all citizens to be very careful when they go to make the purchase of the VEHICLE fleet, since several of these sales are made through social networks and this causes buyers to be scammed," he stressed.
"The car was twinned, its plates and identification were altered to later sell it as original," said the commander.
Finally, the BUCARAMANGA METROPOLITAN POLICE managed to recover 14 motorcycles that had been STOLEN in the last two weeks and had an appraisal of 140 million pesos.
The Police, in collaboration with the Prosecutor's Office, carried out an operation, which was called San Martín, with which they captured a criminal gang accused of shipping in Bucaramanga, Cúcuta and Barrancabermeja. In total, five people were arrested. As it became known, it operated under the command of Lina María Gallego Sanjuan, known by the aliases of La Mona or alias Lina. In total, the file highlights, the criminal organization would be responsible for having committed 25 thefts in the last year.
“This organization would have participated in more than 25 charters, registered in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga, Barrancabermeja and Cúcuta (Norte de Santander). In all these events, they used firearms to intimidate the victims and thus steal the money they withdrew from banks,” explained Colonel José James Roa Castañeda, commander of the BUCARAMANGA Metropolitan Police.
As he added, it was after analyzing the probative material that was found with the capture of the people who, now, are facing proceedings against them for the crimes of qualified and aggravated theft, conspiracy to commit a crime and illegal possession of firearms. In the last eight charters they managed to make, they managed to earn $147 million.
Although these people were captured, the authorities are still searching for four other members of the gang. These, says the investigation, have a blue Interpol circular in their name, which is why they are being sought in more than 53 countries.
