River: Juanfer Quintero and a message with a farewell flavor
The link between Juan Fernando Quintero and River Plate ends in less than 24 hours. When the calendar marks December 31, the contract will have expired. And on the eve of that, the Colombian used his Instagram to give a message with a farewell flavor.
"Don't try to understand it! I was always happy in River. Whatever they say, I just have to thank everyone in the RIVER WORLD. Here you have a fan for life! Thank you and happy new year to everyone," Juanfer posted online social with photos of his time at the Millionaire.
The reality is that, if it materializes, his departure cannot be considered surprising because the skilled player had anticipated it a few days ago in the Argentine press. "We all really want to, but the reality is different. If it happens, fine; if not, I will continue with respect, with affection, with love," he had told ESPN.
What is the main impediment for Quintero to continue? Nothing has to do with the separation of Marcelo Gallardo and the assumption of Martín Demichelis. The problem, on the contrary, is economic.
The main obstacle between River and the Colombian is that Núñez's club cannot transfer foreign currency abroad, in accordance with Argentina's financial regulations, due to the purchase of economic rights.
“Juanfer is a complex issue. Due to his situation as an Argentine resident, this makes it impossible for us to send foreign currency abroad for the purchase of economic rights. We want to see if we can somehow reach an agreement with the Chinese club (Note: Shenzhen Kaisa). Everyone knows that the departure (of Quintero) was complex, now they are on better terms. And if not, look at the alternatives, ”said Jorge Brito, president of River, in TyC Sports.
For the soccer player, "a contract in the national account, with a figure in dollars that passes into Argentine pesos, is not profitable," River Plate sources explained to Clarín. And this week it began to circulate strongly in the Brazilian press that Flamengo could close its incorporation in a matter of hours.
Meanwhile, Quintero is still in Colombia, far from the team led by Demichelis and who will travel to the United States in January to continue the preseason. On River's agenda are the friendlies against Mexico's Monterrey (01/10 in Austin, Texas), Colombia's Millonarios (01/14 at the DRV PNK Stadium in Florida) and Brazil's Vasco de Gama (01/17 in the same stadium).
