The dean of the College of Nurses of Peru, Josefa Vásquez Cevallos, expressed her concern about the adverse reality that her colleagues are suffering in terms of the contractual situation of at least 7,000 of them, who complete their contract in 3 days and after that do not The agreement will be renewed so that they can continue within the framework of their work and safeguard the lives of Peruvians.

“Right now we have 7,000 nurses in EsSalud who are going to finish their contract nationwide this month of December, this is in the 3 levels of care where a document from the Lima management has reached them indicating that until 31 December they are hired, after that date they are no longer”, Vásquez Cevallos expresses at first.

He also mentioned that, given this unfortunate reality in which thousands of nurses are seen around, they have sent a document to the executive presidency of EsSalud where they demand that a law that was published in July be applied to the personnel that was hired under the CAS-Covid modality and that, precisely with this new opinion, proceed to change the contractual format to CAS-regular.

"As a school we have made a document to the executive presidency of EsSalud, especially because our country has gaps in human resources and although they were hired by Covid, there is a law that was approved in July of this year so that all staff of exceptionally it will go from CAS COVID to regular CAS. Therefore EsSalud must apply this law, ”he explained.

In this sense, Vásquez Cevallos also indicated that, for a quarter, a considerable group of his colleagues have been working without receiving a single sol and that they have even had to go to the Legislative Branch so that they could provide them with the support to get out of this difficult context. .

"We have nurses who have been working for 3 months without pay because there was no budget, they have even had to go to Congress to ask congressmen to pass a law to allow them to use the money they had."
