Jhonatan Alarcón, the last goodbye of the tenth victim who left the protests in Ayacucho

The Llachoccmayo community of the Chiara district, Huamanga province in Ayacucho, said their last goodbye to the tenth fatality that left the clashes between the National Police, Armed Forces and protesters. Jhonatan Alarcón Galindo (19) died last Wednesday, December 21 after fighting for his life for six days in the Intensive Care Unit.

His father received the news of his departure in the early hours of the morning. Alarcón Galindo received a bullet in the back, leaving him in a very serious condition at the ayacucho Regional Hospital. His son came to the city to collect payment for work done, but when he decided to stay for a few days, he attended the call for the march in favor of closing the Congress of the Republic and rejecting President Dina Boluarte.

According to the medical examination of the Institute of Legal Medicine, the young man died "from receiving a firearm projectile, which caused abdominal damage." Likewise, he was left with several injuries to the "iliac and sacral bones."

The confrontation began on December 15, when a strike was called with the intention of taking over the Alfredo Mendívil Duarte National Airport. However, in view of the acts of vandalism that were reported in other landing zones of the national airports, the Armed Forces were inside to protect the zone; but later the confrontations got out of control.

In their community, they said their last goodbye through music, instrumental sounds and songs. Likewise, the relatives asked for justice for their Alarcón Galindo, who could not resist given the seriousness of his situation.

The investigation of those killed in protests is in the hands of the National Prosecutor's Office. However, the family has pointed out how difficult it will be to seek justice for their loved one.

In addition, he asked that the international community get involved in the investigations to find the people who will have to answer for the ten deaths only in Ayacucho, but more than 20 in the national territory. "(...), since justice in Peru does not exist for us, the peasants," she said.

Likewise, it was learned that the ten people who died received a bullet projectile impact during the repression by the Armed Forces.

The Congress of the Republic is evaluating the creation of a special commission to investigate the deaths of citizens, so that the facts can be clarified and those responsible found. However, so far, they have not concluded with this organization.
