Governors disagree with the Court ruling in favor of CABA: "We are not going to allow something that does not correspond to be paid"
President Alberto Fernández questioned this Tuesday at noon, when heading a new meeting of the Jurisdictional Committee of Bajos Submeridionales together with the governors of Santiago del Estero, Gerardo Zamora, of Chaco, Jorge Capitanich, and of Santa Fe, Omar Perotti, the ruling of the Supreme Court that ordered the National State to pay the government of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta 2.95% of co-participating funds.
Consulted in this regard, the governor of the province of La Rioja, Ricardo Quintela, pointed out that this ruling "has a negative impact and we are all on alert because we have stated our position very clearly and firmly."
In this sense, he pointed to the partiality of the members of the Supreme Court: "There are four people who decide on the patrimony, freedom and life of the people. Two of them were appointed by a decree of necessity and urgency that violates the Constitution that they claim to defend," he said in dialogue with AM750.
"The Court does not have the moral authority to stand before 23 governors who are elected by popular will," he added.
On the other hand, he spoke out against the decision of President Alberto Fernández to pay CABA some 180 billion pesos more than what he already receives from co-participation: "I do not agree with the co-participation funds being paid even with bonds , because it would be recognizing the right that the Court imposes," he said.
In addition, he remarked that the governors were not consulted and that they "are not going to allow a fund to be distributed where it does not correspond."
"The Federal Capital is the capital of all Argentines, not the capital of an elite group of porteños. So, what we try is to also feel like owners of that terroir, because it is federal," he concluded.
